TEWKSBURY — Tewksbury Police arrested a Boston man on assault charges following an incident at Tewksbury State Hospital.
The incident is the second this week, following Chief Ryan Columbus’ statement following a Department of Public Health proposal to remove non-lethal tools from public safety staff at the facility.
EDUARDO CRUCETA, AGE 27, of BOSTON, was arrested and charged with the following:
Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
Assault and Battery on a Public Employee
On Sunday, April 12 at approximately 10:04 a.m., Tewksbury Police responded to Tewksbury State Hospital for reports of an unwanted man on the property.
Upon arrival officers located CRUCETA inside the building with campus security.
A preliminary investigation determined that CRUCETA was a visitor of the hospital whose family member was a patient.
While visiting, CRUCETA’s family member appeared to be suffering from a medical episode and CRUCETA began acting erratically and was threatening to kill employees.
Campus security was unable to remove CRUCETA from the hospital room, after several attempts of asking him to leave. CRUCETA then pushed a large chair into a pregnant staff member.
CRUCETA was placed under arrest by Tewksbury Police without incident.
CRUCETA is scheduled to be arraigned in Lowell District Court on Monday.
The incident remains under investigation by Tewksbury Police.
