Pollard Library to Unveil Community-Built Mosaic

LOWELL -What started as a hands-on workshop at the Pollard Memorial Library is now a permanent work of public art.

The staff and library Foundation invite the public to join them this coming Saturday, April 18, for the unveiling of a community-built mosaic that will help kick off National Library Week. The ceremony takes place at 2pm in the grand entrance of the historic Merrimack Street building.

Residents, working side-by-side with artist Emily Bhargava, created a vibrant mosaic reflecting Lowell’s creativity, diversity and community spirit. The artwork turns a shared experience into a lasting visual centerpiece.

National library week (April 19-26, 2026) celebrates libraries, staff and the role they play in connecting people, inspiring creativity and fostering lifelong learning. This year’s theme is Find Your Joy!

Join in to become part of the celebration. Light refreshments will be served.
