Lowell – Nearly six years after opening its first Success Home, the Megan House Foundation proudly opens its second residence for graduates of Megan’s House and other women continuing their recovery after treatment.
The house, located at 444 Andover Street in Lowell, will host Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan, Lowell City Manager Tom Golden, Mayor Sokhary Chau, Senator Edward Kennedy, State Representatives Vanna Howard, Rodney Elliott and other officials for a special ribbon cutting ceremony, Wednesday August 2, 2023 at 5pm. Tours of the beautiful, historic home will also be given to attendees and media members.
Named after an early graduate of the program, Emma’s House in Lowell features nine beds for women continuing their transition back to society.
“Opening another Success Home has been a long-term goal for the Megan House Foundation,” said Executive Director Pamela Huntley. “Emma’s House allows us to keep graduates of our program, as well as others, connected to their support network as they take the crucial next steps in their recovery.”
Emma’s House offers a safe, supportive and supervised environment for residents transitioning back into the community. Following the successful model of Erin’s House in Dracut, the Lowell residence will feature a House Manager and House Director on call 24 hours a day to provide continued case management and develop individual service plans with each resident.
“Research has shown that stable housing after treatment significantly reduces the rate of relapse,” said Megan’s House Director of Programming MaryBeth Murphy. “Being able to provide housing for another nine residents fills a tremendous void for safe, affordable, sober housing in our community.”
Similar to Megan’s House and Erin’s House, Emma’s House is also located along an established public transportation route, allowing for access to work, educational and recreational opportunities, which are vital components to a successful recovery.
