Guest Conductors Highlight Next Lowell Philharmonic Concert

The Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra enjoys celebrating the many rich ethnic communities that call Lowell home.  In keeping that tradition going, their concert on October 14, 2023, is a celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Titled Bailar con la Orquesta – A Celebration of Classical Music Inspired by Hispanic and Latin Dance,  the concert will feature music from Latin and Hispanic composers as well as European composers with their take on Latin/Hispanic Dance themes. Guest Conductor for this concert is Neal Hampton, who was on the podium at last year’s Masquerade concert and was the Music Director for the LPO 30 years ago.

The first half of the event is a concert by the Lowell Philharmonic Orchestra.  They will be joined by Franswa and Dawn from Salsa-In Lowell showing off their cha cha!  Also – Diego Leonardo, Executive Director of the LatinX Center of Lowell – will conduct “Amparito Roca” a Spanish march, composed by Jaime Texidor, as Guest Guest Conductor.

The second half of the event is a social featuring a Latin Jazz Trio from Berklee and catered by Gary’s Tipico.  Mingle with the musicians and move to the Latin jazz on the dance floor.
