Long-time Lieutenant David Keene has been named Assistant to the Fire Chief, placing him 2^nd in command at the Lowell Fire Department.

Keene is entering his 27^th year with LFD. He’s also been very active in the Firefighters’ Union, serving as President of Lowell Firefighters Local 853 from 2003 till the end of 2015. Since then, he’s held positions in leadership for the International Association of Fire Fighters and as Vice President District 4 Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts. He also currently serves as a member of the City’s Retirement Board, a position he’s held since 2014.

Keene is well-respected and well-liked within the Fire Department and at City Hall and the Lowell City Council.
