Mother’s Day weekend brought great energy across all Lowell Girls Lacrosse teams, with the girls competing hard and showing real progress across every age group.
We also want to take a moment to recognize the LGL moms whose support, dedication, and sideline energy help make weekends like this so special.
Grade 1/2:
Lowell’s 1/2 team had a great game on Sunday against Billerica White, showing how much their hard work is paying off. The girls played together, supported one another, and earned a close 5–3 win built on strong defense, excellent goaltending, and consistently winning the battle for loose balls.
Offensively, Lowell had four different goal scorers. Sydney Smith led the way with 2 goals, while Payton O’Hearn, Maggie Reagan, and Rauri Pollard each added 1. Against a tight Billerica defense, Audrey Whittemore and Casey McCabe recorded Lowell’s two assists.
Lowell controlled possession throughout the game by collecting 31 ground balls. Abby Whittemore and Pollard led with 4 each, followed by Smith, Mila Ferrer, Riley Gudewich, Sophia Bedard, and Charlotte Patterson with 3 apiece. Audrey Whittemore and McCabe added 2, while O’Hearn, Reagan, Raquel Fernandes, Julia Brown, and Evelyn McManus each contributed 1.
In net, Lowell’s goalies were outstanding. McManus handled the first half with 4 saves, and Natalie Poulin stepped in for the second half, making 3 saves and standing strong against steady pressure.
The team now looks ahead to next weekend’s matchup against Billerica Green in Lowell.

Grade 3/4 Red:
The 3/4 Red team put together another impressive performance on Sunday, earning an 18–4 win over Reading Black. It was a true team effort from start to finish, with every player recording at least one point, and Lowell’s team speed, ball movement, and defensive intensity on full display. Goalie Lily Brady anchored the effort with an outstanding day in net, finishing with more than 10 saves and making it difficult for Reading to generate momentum.
The midfield unit powered the offense and controlled possession throughout the game. Emma Smulligan tallied a goal and an assist, Emmagrace Glavine added a goal and 4 assists, and Eva Mojica delivered a standout performance with 9 goals and an assist. Gisele Smith and Margot Justinien each added an assist, while Michaela Marshall contributed 2 goals and 3 assists in a strong all‑around outing.

On attack, Avery Gudewich scored 3 goals and added 2 assists, Etta Brunini recorded an assist, Harper Ronan scored once, and Reese Hegarty added an assist to round out the scoring.
Lowell’s defenders also made their mark on the stat sheet. Alice Regan scored a goal, Kenzie Keo added an assist, and Kinsley Witts contributed 2 assists, all while helping limit Reading’s scoring chances with disciplined positioning and smart slides.
The 3/4 Red team looks to carry this momentum into Sunday’s home matchup against Billerica.

Grade 3/4 White:
The 3/4 White team delivered another excellent full‑team performance on Sunday, earning a dominant 21–3 win over Burlington. The girls played off one another beautifully, with crisp passing and cutting that were the sharpest they’ve been all season, paired with connected team defense that consistently limited Burlington’s offensive drives.

In goal, Lyla Curran‑Benson made 2 saves in the first half, and Addison Feeney stepped in for the second half with 5 saves.
On the field, every player contributed to the scoring effort. Midfielder Addison Feeney led the way with 5 goals and 4 assists, while fellow midfielder Vivian Brown matched her scoring with 5 goals and added 3 assists. Attacker Bella Cardaci added 4 goals and 2 assists, and midfielder Maggie Branco turned in a strong two‑way performance with 3 goals and 4 assists.
Defender Madi O’Hearn pushed the ball in transition and chipped in 2 goals and 1 assist, while attackers Kendra Dexter and Breton Tanguay each recorded 2 assists. The attack line continued to shine with Katy Florence scoring her first career goal, Delaney Donovan adding 1 goal, and Kerryn Welch and Curran‑Benson each contributing 1 assist.
It was a complete, connected effort from start to finish — one of the team’s strongest and most cohesive games of the season.

Grade 5/6:
The Lowell 5/6 team battled through a back‑and‑forth matchup against Reading on Sunday, ultimately falling just short in a 10–9 heartbreaker decided in the final 30 seconds. It was a competitive, high‑energy game from start to finish, and the girls showed a ton of grit throughout.

The offense came ready to compete, with Vivian Shanley leading the way with 3 goals. Maeve McKiernan and Ellie Branco each added 2 goals, while Brooke Sorbi and Renee Wagner scored 1 apiece to keep Lowell in the fight.
In net, J’Lynn Wallace was outstanding, turning away 9 shots and anchoring the defense during several high‑pressure stretches.
Lowell applied pressure all game long, generating key turnovers thanks to the efforts of Samantha Heslin, Bella Bedard, and Audrey Hunt. Grace Ninteau, Keira Pollard, and Bridget Quirbach chased down ground balls to regain possession and push the ball upfield, while Ellie Jaracz helped shut down offensive lanes and limit Reading’s scoring opportunities.

Despite the narrow loss, the team showed toughness, resilience, and a competitive edge that will serve them well moving forward. They look to bounce back next weekend against Billerica.

Grade 7/8:
The Lowell 7/8 team earned a hard‑fought 9–7 win over Reading, playing one of their most complete games of the season. From the opening draw to the final whistle, the girls brought focus, energy, and determination.

The defense set the tone early and maintained it throughout the game. Maggie Wilson, Abby Smulligan, Keira Peters, Makenna Norman, Mia Connors, and Samira Wagner played outstanding team defense, communicating well and consistently shutting down Reading’s attack. In net, Erin McGovern delivered an impressive performance with 10 saves, directing the defense with confidence and poise.
Lowell also generated several key momentum‑shifting plays. Abby Smulligan capitalized on strong sideline pressure to score once, while Nora Graham added a goal of her own and made important defensive stops in transition. One of the biggest moments of the game came when Maggie Wilson regained possession and sprinted more than 60 yards upfield to help set up a Lowell goal.
Offensively, Lowell saw contributions across the lineup. Skylar Nwaise led the scoring with 3 goals, while Nora Kelly added 2. Maeve Marshall showcased her speed and endurance at midfield, covering the entire field and scoring once. Kate Richardson controlled multiple draws and converted a penalty shot. Sadie Ronan, Maggie Richardson, Rosalinda Gogeun, and Spencer Sullivan worked tirelessly off the ball to create space and make themselves available as options.
In the midfield, Mairin Monaghan created two key turnovers to regain possession, while Niamh Murphy battled for several important ground balls. Fiona Zurkus, playing midfield for the first time, used her speed effectively to push the ball downfield and contribute to the transition game.
It was a complete, well‑earned win for the 7/8 squad and a strong step forward as they continue their season.
