LOWELL – Roland A. Berard, 80, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Rachel C. (Provencher) Berard with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on October 27, 1942 and was a son of the late Florence T. (Perron) Berard and Leo J. Berard.

Roland attended St. Louis Elementary School in Lowell and went on to graduate from St. Joseph High School in 1961.

Prior to his retirement, Roland worked in construction and was last employed by DGR Construction for almost 30 years.

Roland was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing cards and always keen to get his hands on a pile of scratch tickets.

In addition to his wife Rachel, Roland is survived and will be deeply missed by his three sons, Bruce Berard and his significant other Tammi Fales of North Andover, Brian Berard and his husband Kevin Clinton of Lowell and Gary Berard and his wife Sharon of Londonderry, NH; his 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Derek, Brennan and Kyle; his two brothers, Raymond Berard of Lowell and Gerard Berard and his wife Lynne of Florida; his four sisters, Pauline Lankford and her husband James of Hudson, NH, Irene Sheehan and her husband William of Lowell, Teresa Berard of Lowell and Jeanne McNamara and her husband Paul of Dracut; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Berard of Lowell; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was predeceased by his two brothers, Richard and Leo Berard and his sister-in-law, Therese Berard.

Relatives and friends are invited to Roland’s Life Celebration on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 AM in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
