Inside Stories

Rivera Staying in Lowell

Dan Rivera, the former Lawrence Mayor who was named Interim Executive Director at Coalition for a Better Acre last July, has been named CEO at the organization.

Rivera, who also headed Mass Development after being named President and CEO by then Governor Charlie Baker in 2020, was thought to be the favorite for the permanent CBA leadership role upon his hiring on a six month contract last July.

Despite the original time period lapsing, sources close to the situation had told InsideLowell the expectation was that Rivera would be setting up shop in the Mill City going forward.

“I’m happy to be sticking around,” Rivera told us when contacted this afternoon

A formal press announcement with more details is expected later today.
