UMass Lowell Class of 2026 Graduates Honored

LOWELL – Outstanding members of UMass Lowell’s Class of 2026 who excelled in the classroom, on the athletic field and in their service to others, were honored last weekend as part of the university’s weekend-long Commencement festivities.

Commencement Award honorees joined student government leaders and other members of the Class of 2026 at a celebration held at the Martin T. Meehan Student Center on Friday, May 15.

This year, 73 awards were presented.

Fifteen students received the Trustees Key for completing all four years of their undergraduate career at UMass Lowell with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. One of these honorees, Sean Simonini of Billerica, received two keys – one recognizing his 4.0 GPA toward his bachelor’s degree in biology and the other for his 4.0 GPA toward his bachelor’s degree in political science.

  • Melrose: Spencer Moltoni, computer science
  • Methuen: Tristan McDermott, computer science
  • Middleton: Lara Serhan, biology
  • Shrewsbury: Aleesha Rafique Awan, psychology
  • Stoughton: Platon Supranovich, computer science
  • Tyngsborough: Angelos Boules, computer science
  • Winchester: Tyler Moh, mathematics

Each of the Trustees Key recipients also received a Chancellor’s Medal for Distinguished Academic Achievement, which honors bachelor’s degree recipients who have attained the highest GPA in each of UMass Lowell’s colleges. Other graduates who received this medal are:

Chancellor’s Medal for Community Service winners were recognized for their exemplary contributions to campus life. The seven honorees are:

  • Andover: Suhani Karki, applied biomedical science
  • Lawrence: Jeremiah Adames, psychology and world languages
  • Lawrence: Shelby Morales, political science
  • Lowell: Yudaya Nanziri, public health
  • Revere: Rafaela Pires, business administration
  • Salem, N.H.: Yasie Nejad, dietetics
  • Wakefield: Hanna Hodzic, mechanical engineering

Eight students received the Chancellor’s Medal for Student Service in recognition of their significant contributions to the public good. The honorees are:

  • Attleboro: Rena-Jae McFall, political science
  • Dracut: Madelyn Archambault, mechanical engineering
  • Jefferson: Zachary Kyros, exercise science
  • Stoughton: Nosagiegbon Igiede, public health
  • Superior, Colo.: Sydney Selby, security studies
  • Tyngsborough, Ginelle Cote, applied biomedical science
  • Westwood: Quinn O’Brien, business administration
  • Wilmington: Nokomis Bramantecohen, psychology

The university recognized four students for their achievements in fostering a sense of belonging on campus and throughout the community. The recipients of the Chancellor’s Medal for Diversity and Inclusion are:

  • Andover: Marla Hilderbrand-Chae, biomedical engineering
  • Methuen: Dana Lituma, business administration
  • New York, N.Y.: Toni Roth, biomedical engineering and biotechnology
  • Worcester: Courtney Ansong, political science

Audra Hansen, a business administration graduate from Stamford, Conn., and Jackson Rudo, a political science graduate from Owings Mills, Md., were named the university’s 2026 Scholar-Athletes. The honor recognizes athletes who attained the highest GPA among students who have participated in varsity sports for all four years of their undergraduate career. Hansen was a midfielder on the women’s lacrosse team; Rudo played defense on the men’s lacrosse team.
