About John Zimini

John has a long history of being a community activist.  He spent most of his younger years as a native of Chelsea, Massachusetts.

John’s interest in local politics and community activism was formed at an early age.  At the tender age of 8 years old, John would help his Dad, who was a volunteer in local elections, deliver campaign literature to voters.  As a young adult, at the age of 18, he ran for Chelsea school committee. Although he was not successful, he continued his interest in politics. Working on many local and state campaigns, John eventually was a successful candidate for election to the Chelsea Board of Alderman. He served 2 consecutive terms.  He was also elected as the youngest President of the Board of Alderman.

A 1971 Chelsea High School Graduate, Zimini had a keen interest in radio and television broadcasting. As a result he attended Boston’s Career Academy School of Radio and TV Broadcasting where he successfully completed his training in journalism, radio announcing and TV broadcasting.  The school was actually located in Fenway Park!

Although John’s professional career did not include radio or tv broadcasting his interest in broadcasting was very strong.  John is currently the longest serving member of the Dracut Access Television Board of Directors where he serves as President of the Corporation.  He is Honored to be the only remaining original member of the corporation on the Board.  In addition, John is the Producer and Co-host of DATV’s popular “What’s Happening Dracut” a news and political talk show.

Zimini began his professional career an assistant purchasing agent for a local Chelsea auto accessory manufacturing company.   He eventually was appointed as an assistant to the Mayor of Chelsea and later continued his professional career in state government.

John is currently retired after a successful 38-year career with State government.  His state government service included positions as an investigator, Chief investigator, and Director of Investigations at the Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents. His last five years of governmental service was spent working in the Audit department at MassHousing, a quasi-state agency, where he was the agencies Compliance Officer.

Zimini has been a resident of Dracut for most of the past 31 years.  In addition to serving on the town’s Cable Access committee he was also a member of the Dracut Finance Committee and was honored to have served 9 years on the Dracut Board of Selectmen.

Why John Joined InsideLowell:
“Having informed residents and taxpayers is the backbone of great communities. Media outlets like Inside Lowell provide information and views that many times are not what politicians want the electorate to know. That is why I consider it an honor to be partnering with InsideMedia Corporation and especially well-respected media personality Teddy Panos to provide “Inside Lowell” with Dracut political opinions and News you may not see anywhere else.  I am particularly proud to have my DATV political opinion and news show “What’s Happening Dracut” included in this partnership.  I look forward to helping bring information and political news to those who seek to make our communities better. “
