Lowell Girls Lacrosse Weekly Scoop (May 23, 2026)

Lowell Girls Lacrosse turned in another great weekend of play, highlighted by strong teamwork, sharp ball movement, and resilient defensive efforts across all age groups. The girls continue to raise their level each week as they gear up for the home stretch.

Grade 1/2:

Lowell’s 1/2 team had a tremendous showing against Billerica Green, playing together with confidence and proving once again that their hard work is paying off. Lowell put up a dominant 13‑goal performance, fueled by strong defense, outstanding goaltending, and relentless effort on ground balls and draw controls.

The offense featured seven different goal scorers. Audrey Whittemore led the way with an impressive 5 goals, followed by Mila Ferrer and Rauri Pollard with 2 each. Riley Gudewich, Sydney Smith, Payton O’Hearn, and Evelyn McManus each added 1 to round out the scoring. The ball movement was excellent, resulting in 9 assists: Ferrer (3), Natalie Poulin and Charlotte Patterson (2 each), and Sophia Bedard and Maggie Reagan (1 each).

Lowell dominated the turf, collecting 49 ground balls to maintain possession and create scoring opportunities. Ferrer and Smith led with 7 each, followed by Whittemore (5). O’Hearn and McManus each grabbed 4, while Poulin, Patterson, Gudewich, Casey McCabe, and Reagan tallied 3 apiece. Brown, Abby Whittemore, and Pollard added 2, and Bedard rounded out the effort with 1. The team also battled hard in the center circle, winning 9 draw controls, led by Smith and McManus with 2 each. Poulin, Ferrer, Patterson, Gudewich, McCabe, and Abby Whittemore each secured 1.

In net, Riley Brady was outstanding, facing a steady Billerica attack and turning away 16 shots to anchor the defense.

The girls will look to build on this momentum over the next two weeks as they prepare for their matchup with Acton‑Boxborough on Sunday, 5/31.

Grade 3/4 Red:

The 3/4 Red team continued to showcase their trademark team speed, strong defense, and outstanding goalie play in a fast‑paced 14–9 win over a talented and physical Billerica squad. After a tight first half, Lowell pulled away with a dominant stretch in the second, controlling possession and finishing their chances.

Lowell’s offense was explosive and balanced, led by Eva Mojica with 5 goals and 4 assists, followed by Michaela Marshall with 4 goals and 2 assists. Avery Gudewich added 3 goals, while Emmagrace Glavine contributed 1 goal and 6 assists, and Etta Brunini scored 1. Kinsley Witts added 1 assist to round out the scoring effort.

In net, Lily Brady was exceptional once again, turning away 15 shots and anchoring the defense during several high‑pressure stretches.

Lowell’s hustle on the turf made a major impact, with strong efforts on ground balls and draw controls throughout the game. Michaela Marshall led the way with 11 ground balls and 1 draw control, while Emmagrace Glavine and Eva Mojica each collected 10 ground balls, with Glavine adding 6 draw controls and Mojica 5. Etta Brunini and Avery Gudewich each secured 4 ground balls, followed by Margot Justinien with 2, and Kinsley Witts with 2 ground balls and 1 draw control.

Additional contributions came from Emma Smulligan (3 ground balls, 1 draw control), Gisele Smith (1 ground ball), Harper Ronan (1 ground ball), Kenzie Keo (1 ground ball), Alice Regan (1 ground ball). Goalie Lily Brady also added 1 ground ball to her outstanding day in net.

The 3/4 Red team now looks forward to a well‑earned weekend off before regrouping for their matchup with Acton‑Boxboro on 5/31.

Grade 3/4 White:

The 3/4 White team delivered another outstanding performance on Sunday, earning a 22–7 win over Medford. Lowell’s ball movement, passing, and defensive communication were all sharp from start to finish, resulting in one of the team’s most complete efforts of the season.

The defense set the tone early, with Madi O’Hearn (2 assists) and Katy Florence anchoring the unit and consistently disrupting Medford’s offensive rhythm. In net, Emma Smulligan turned in an excellent game, making 6 saves and helping spark transition opportunities.

On offense, Lowell saw contributions across the lineup. Vivian Brown led the scoring with 8 goals and 2 assists, while Addison Feeney followed with a dominant 7‑goal, 8‑assist performance. Breton Tanguay added 2 goals and 3 assists, Maggie Branco contributed 2 goals and 4 assists, and Bella Cardaci chipped in 2 goals and 1 assist.

Additional contributions came from Lucy Arinello (1 assist) and Eva Mojica (1 goal).

The 3/4 White team now looks ahead to their next matchup against Winchester on Sunday, 5/31.

Grade 5/6:

The Lowell 5/6 squad showed real toughness this past weekend, battling through hot conditions in a demanding matchup that ended in a 9–3 Billerica win. Even with the heat working against both teams, Lowell continued to push, finding momentum in stretches and refusing to let the game slip quietly.

On offense, J’Lynn Wallace, Vivian Shanley, and Ellie Branco each found the back of the net, breaking through strong defensive pressure with determined cuts and drives.

Supporting the attack, Addie Dolan, Samantha Heslin, Brooke Sorbi, and Nora Finn worked hard to advance the ball, maintain possession, and create passing lanes that kept the offense moving. Renee Wagner, Grace Ninteau, and Quinn Maguire battled for ground balls and helped sustain pressure despite the heat.

Defensively, Lowell showed grit and resilience. Bridget Quirbach, Bella Bedard, and J’Lynn Wallace forced key turnovers that shifted possession back in Lowell’s favor, while Maya Underwood and Ellie Jaracz applied steady pressure to disrupt Billerica’s rhythm.

In net, Keira Pollard stood strong, making 6 solid saves and anchoring the defense throughout the game.

Grade 7/8:

Despite being short‑handed, the Lowell 7/8 team battled from start to finish against a deep and talented Billerica squad. While the final score didn’t fall in Lowell’s favor, the girls showed grit, resilience, and strong teamwork throughout the game.

On offense, Maggie Richardson led the way with 2 goals, while Samira Wagner, Nora Graham, Nora Kelly, and Abby Smulligan each added a goal of their own. Fiona Zurkus and Spencer Sullivan also turned in solid performances, helping generate movement and scoring opportunities.

Even the high stick can’t deter Nora Kelly from getting into scoring position.

Defensively, Lowell worked tirelessly to slow Billerica’s attack. Abby Smulligan repeatedly used the sidelines to transition the ball upfield, and Rosalinda Gogeun played tough, disciplined defense in her final LGL game — the team will miss her presence.

Keira Peters made several strong sliding plays, Maeve Marshall showcased her speed and versatility all over the field, and first‑year player Makenna Norman continued to impress with her defensive IQ and steady positioning.

In the midfield, Mairin Monaghan caused 3 turnovers to regain possession, while Maggie Wilson recorded 3 interceptions to disrupt Billerica’s rhythm. Cate Richardson worked tirelessly to create scoring chances, Sadie Ronan battled aggressively for ground balls, and Niamh Murphy used her defensive awareness to keep Billerica out of the crease.

A big thank‑you goes out to the Grade 5/6 players who stepped up to help the team. In net, Keira Pollard played her second game of the day and made 6 strong saves to keep Lowell competitive, while Quinn Maguire contributed on both defense and attack.

The 7/8 squad will rest over the long weekend before gearing up for their home matchup against Acton‑Boxborough on Sunday, 5/31.
