CHELMSFORD — The Town of Chelmsford and the Vinal Square Clock Committee will officially unveil the new Vinal Square Street Clock following the annual Memorial Day observances in North Chelmsford on Monday May 25, 2026.
Hosted by the American Legion Post 313, the Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10:00 a.m. from 90 Groton Rd and proceed to Vinal Square, where the annual Memorial Day observance ceremony will take place.
Following the ceremony, community members are invited to remain for the official unveiling of the new clock before continuing to the traditional community gathering and ice cream social at North Town Hall.
The unveiling ceremony will celebrate both the installation of a new community landmark and the continued beautification and revitalization of the Vinal Square district in North Chelmsford.
The new Vinal Square Street Clock will serve as a centerpiece of North Chelmsford’s historic village center and a symbol of community pride, local heritage, and civic connection.
For generations, residents have gathered around Vinal Square for parades, celebrations, shopping, and community events.
North Chelmsford is home to many generational families whose roots in the neighborhood stretch back decades, making the installation of the new clock especially meaningful to the community.
As part of the project, a granite memorial stone will also be installed in honor of the men and women who have served our country. The addition reflects the committee’s desire to ensure the project serves not only as a beautification effort, but also as a lasting tribute to veterans and the enduring spirit of the community.
Led by Bill Gilet Jr., with strong support from volunteers, donors, local businesses, and Town leadership, the project reflects the power of community collaboration and investment in North Chelmsford’s future.
“This has truly been a community effort,” said Gilet. “The installation of the new street clock is another step forward in the continued revitalization and beautification of Vinal Square. We invite everyone to join us as we celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States with a special unveiling of Chelmsford’s first town clock in honor of our veterans at the annual Memorial Day Parade.”
“This clock represents more than just a timepiece — it reflects the history, resilience, and spirit of North Chelmsford,” said State Representative Rodney Elliott. “I’m proud to support projects that preserve the landmarks that connect residents to our shared history and strengthen community identity.”
“This project is a great example of what can happen when volunteers, donors, and Town leadership come together around a shared goal,” said Virginia Crocker-Timmins, Chair of the Vinal Square Strategic Action Plan Committee. “Beautification of the village was identified as a priority in the Vinal Square Strategic Action Plan, and it’s exciting to see another piece of that work become reality. We hope the new clock serves as a visible reminder of the pride and commitment people have for the North Chelmsford community.”
Residents, families, veterans, and visitors are encouraged to attend the Memorial Day Parade and remain following the ceremony for the official unveiling.
